🐝 An endless brunch?!

November 3rd, 2025

Good Morning, Waterloo Region!

Heartbroken.

I'm still nursing a 'did the Jays really lose hangover'. I know it's not directly in the area, but I could see the love and excitement going out to the team from everyone around here.

I was at Rural Roots in Elmira for the beginning of the game and they had a nice rendition of 'Oh Canada' sung by everyone in attendance. It was quite special seeing everyone unite!

Good job to the boys, and what a great memory regardless of the end result. πŸ’ͺ

In today's email:

  • Laurier in a championship
  • some great comedy events
  • a quick event rundown
  • where the blue box recycling bin was invented
  • an endless brunch
  • & more

Let's dive in πŸ‘‡

COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHT

The delivery of new garbage and green bins to everyone has begun! Just got mine this morning... although I'm not really sure where I'm going to store them for the next 4 months πŸ€”

If you haven't got yours yet (or want to learn more), you can find out the details here - they've gone quite in-depth with all the info!

And this map gets updated regularly with the different areas around the region who will be getting theirs delivered in the next 2-3 weeks.

FOOD & DRINK IN THE REGION

Blackshop Restaurant | Cambridge

European-inspired menus along with an extensive wine selection. There's private dining rooms available, a cozy patio, fireplaces and lots of parking.

They're recently "celebrating over 40 years of excellence" with a "refined, yet inviting ambiance."

That looks so, so good.

A great place for a special occasion, date night or if you're a foodie!

And as always, don't just take my word. Here's a great review from Vicky - sounds like she had an excellent, but 'tiring' time at the endless brunch πŸ˜…:

"Went a couple of weeks ago for endless brunch. The coffee was superb and the food just kept coming. Endless small plates ?? - I wouldn't say they were that small......at the end I was so stuffed I just wanted to lie down in a darkened room lol. Needless to say we didn't eat anything for the rest of the day. Loved the DJ too nice to have music but not too loud or intrusive. Really hoping they keep on doing this thing."

The 'Endless Brunch' menu looks absolutely amazing. Also linking over their dinner menu if helpful (make sure to check them all out on the site as they've got 5-6 menus).

We've got a gift card here so I'm excited to get some good food!

* this is not a sponsored placement, just a favourite of mine. ads will always be made obvious if so.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Where's your favourite place to have breakfast in the region, and why/what would you recommend? 🍳

Hit reply to this message to let me know and I'll share some of the best responses on Thursday. Got some great recommendations so far!

RANDOM FACTS OF THE DAY

The quietest room on earth. The quietest place in the world is an anechoic chamber at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. The background noise measured is -20.35 dBA. The silence is so intense that people can hear their own blood flowing and their ears ringing.

Flamingos are not born pink. They hatch with dull, greyish feathers. Their iconic rosy colour comes from the beta-carotene in the brine shrimp and blue-green algae that make up their diet.

Home to the blue box. The blue box recycling system - a household feature used across North America now - was invented and first implemented in Kitchener in 1983. The first containers distributed to residents were actually blue laundry baskets sourced from a local manufacturer, giving the initiative its iconic name, the 'Blue Box'.

THANK YOU!

Hope you have the best day and we'll see you Thursday. 🐝
