I thought it'd be cool to feature a business, store or spot around the region each week that really stands out. So first up... we have The Mercantile in Elmira. Located in the building where Crossroads used to be as you head into Elmira. (agh they had great breakfast buffets, I miss them...) They sell a wide range of home decor and gift items. From candles to jewelry to decorations to soaps to pots & tons of other knick-knacks. There's something for everyone! They've also got a 'Christmas Extravaganza' event going on this weekend! One of my favourite places to go for a gift & tons of great items to browse and buy. You can check out their Facebook page here. * not sponsored by the business. that will always be made obvious if so. SPORTS 🥅 Kitchener Rangers | 7th overall
* what other sports would you like to see included here? reply to let me know what you'd find useful! COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS Kitchener-Conestoga Rotary Turkey Drive Join the Kitchener-Conestoga Rotary Club's 24th Annual Turkey Drive, supporting House of Friendship's Christmas Food Program. Their goal for 2025 is reaching 1,750 more families than last year, so any help given is really appreciated. Your donation provides a complete holiday meal for families in need. $150 feeds a family with turkey and all the fixings, while $50 provides a turkey alone. Since 2003, this volunteer-driven program has fed nearly 5,000 households annually - with every dollar going directly to those who need it most. Click here to find out more about the project, and what help they need. * these are not a sponsored placement, just a cause I came across. ads will always be made obvious if so. ADOPTABLE PET OF THE WEEK Meet Yoko! She's a 5 year old domestic shorthair/mix with white & orange fur. The 'Ultimate Social Butterfly', Yoko first came to the shelter on November 4th. "An affectionate little cat who loves nothing more than curling up in your lap and soaking up all the attention she can get. Friendly and confident, Yoko adjusts easily to new people and surroundings. She was exploring her new foster home and making friends with her foster's roommates on her very first day, all on her own! While she's perfectly content spending time alone when needed, she'll happily seize every opportunity to snuggle, purr, and show off her loving personality." Tap here to find out more. And there are tons of dogs, cats and other animals that are looking for their forever homes. You can find the adopt page here. They've also got a donation drive going on right now called 'Double The Hope This Holiday Season'. Your donation has twice the power as local landscaping company Helmutz is matching all donations up to $10,000 through December 7th. More information can be found at this link if you're interested. * if you adopt a dog or any pet from these emails, reply and let me know! I'd love to send you a special gift to help get things started QUESTION OF THE WEEK What's your favourite event, tradition or 'must do' each holiday season? 🎄 Reply with your answer and I'll share some responses next week!
